The Forte & The Inability Of Two-Thousand-Six
Yet another year drifts to a close and a plethora of modifications throughout the year to life itself prospers. With each passing granule of time there is compression; a whole world of subconscious industrialized chunking which processes these simple kernels into complex compounds and fragments eventually forming the fog of cognition we call memory. These fleeting glimpses of the past fuel the perpetual human drive of greed, fear, obsession, jealousy, and all tainted controversy in our existence. Memories, while often believed to be treasured and beneficial, often produce the opposite effect. They bring forth the wants and aspirations of a better future: moments which do not exist, and yet we already build foundations on these ambitious pursuits; thin layers of ice bound to bust and engulf us in a cold abyss of perpetual pain. Soon the obsession for these future moments develops vigorously and the true essence of our existence is lost for eternity. We become captives of our own thoughts which fester with Narcissism. We walk through our daily endeavors as lifeless silhouettes cultivating the pain of ourselves and others. Many neglect or fail to recognize their true potential and the power they hold to overcome this vexatious cycle. Self-destruction can be slowly reversed not by conquering, but through acquiescence. An acute awareness; mindfulness as it is often referred to, can light the way to freedom. Acceptance of the present moment and all that is: to be and to let be.For Two-Thousand-Seven I aim to become more conscious of my thoughts. To develop a focused watch-dog mentality of my words and actions. To offer a mindful reality for myself and those surrounding. For Two-Thousand-Seven: Health through fitness: A daily priority. For Two-Thousand-Seven: The practice of self-discipline and control of desire. For Two-Thousand-Seven: A stronger scrutiny of fiscal expenditures. For Two-Thousand-Seven: A full responsibility of all actions. For Two-Thousand-Seven: An enlightened and kind passion to dub life. For Two-Thousand-Seven: To live to be.It is with the present moment that I engage in transmuting these activities into reality not by fantasy of what can be done tomorrow, but what can be done today. In resolution of Two-Thousand-Six, it is noted that my favorite utility for composing journal entries be dictionary.com/thesaurus.com.And it is with great pleasure, ladies and gentlemen, that I bid farewell to Two-Thousand-Six and shuffle forth a warm welcome to Two-Thousand-Seven.A very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you and your beloved.Warmly Yours,Joseph R.
